This week we lost one of our new members. We are sad to say good bye to Jesse Cox for now. Jesse was 30 years old and had been in an accident in which he lost one of his legs. He started coming to Crosspoint a couple of months ago. Jesse loved coming to church. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior there. When he first started to come you could tell he was searching for something. Then, after he accepted Jesus, he would come in just glowing. The last communication card he filled out, he said, “I just love my new family at Crosspoint.”
Sunday, I was taking some pictures for a project for Kayla for school, and Jesse stopped me and said, “Take our picture!” So I did. We just never know when it’s our last chance to interact with anyone who walks through our doors. I think about what would have happened if Crosspoint had not been there for Jesse? I think about what if we didn’t treat him with love and compassion from the first time he walked through the doors? What if he hadn’t come back?
Every day, is a chance to change a life, or change an eternity. Every act of kindness, is important. I wish that Christians would realize this is Kingdom work, not just something to be taken lightly. All I can say is, “Thank God we were there for Jesse.”
Thank you all for the difference you make every day. Please continue to pray for this ministry and that God will use it to change lives. Even though we will miss Jesse’s smiling face sitting back there in his chair, we will see him again! I think about him now, in Heaven, without a cane. I bet he is running around all over the place.
He taught us all a valuable lesson…Make every day count, you are not guaranteed another chance.

I trust that each of you are experiencing “Outrageous, Contagious Joy” this week.
Awesome service Sunday with another record crowd…..287 in attendance!
80 children in children’s ministry…WOW (When you have creative teachers, the kids keep coming)
22 visitors
We announced that growth groups will start the week of Oct 5.
We had our first Growth Group leaders meeting….we anticipate 10-12 groups with 16 people each
I am looking forward to preaching the second message of our series “Outrageous, Contagious Joy” this Sunday. Invite a friend to join us. We talked last week about how God wants much more than happiness for us, He wants us to experience joy. Happiness is based on our circumstances, but joy comes through a deep relationship with Him. This week we will be talking about “Joy Jammers”. Satan uses these to get us distracted from the joy that God wants us to have.
We are having a great demand for the “smiley shirts”. For those of you that ordered last week, your shirt will be at the “Info Point” Sunday morning. Stop by and pick it up. If you would like to buy one, you may do so Sunday morning. The shirts will sell for $10 each.
We will have sign-up for growth groups starting Sunday. I will give you more instruction Sunday morning.
Congrats to our new partners (members) at CrossPoint :
Brandon Adams, Pansy Spencer, Scott Spencer, Wenn Harold, Melissa Harold, Jerry Harold, Kara Simpson, Charles Simpson, Deborah Simpson, Rock Martin, Susan Martin, Olivia Martin, Gayle Spencer, Michelle Hankins, Eddie Hankins, Zachary Hankins, Barbara Gilbert, Mark Gilbert, Katie Gilbert.

Yesterday morning a verse came to mind from James 1:2&3. Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
That morning I used that verse in a letter I was writing to a young man in jail. I really believe that when this young man comes out he will be a different person. I am praying not just “different” but changed. I am praying that because of what he is going through he will have a better relationship with Jesus. There is something about walking through a dark valley, alone that really makes you think about your relationship with Him.
Later on in the morning, I spoke with a mother whose daughter was going through a difficult situation. Again, James 1:2&3. She was proud of her daughter, because even though she was being treated unfairly, she was holding on to her relationship with Jesus and peace that everything would work out.
I spoke with a young lady who was losing her job. She said, “I know that God has a plan for me and when this door closes, He will open another one.” She was very calm, even though she knew her family needed the income. By the end of the day she called to let me know she had a new job. She was sad, but through the whole situation, she never lost her joy.
That night, I actually spoke with two young women who were having difficult situations with their boyfriends, both girls were out of high school and really searching about the mate that God wants them to choose in life. Even though in some ways, their hearts were breaking, their relationship with Jesus was growing even stronger. Both of these girls were in service at Crosspoint Sunday and were reflecting on the message that happiness is based on circumstance and joy is based on your relationship with Jesus.
I believe the message Sunday was both Biblical and relevant to our every day lives. Obviously it has been applied to our every day walk with God. I love it when the ministry on Sunday, carries in to our daily lives through out the week. Isn’t that what we are suppose to do, take God’s Word, read it, understand it and then live it? I wonder if there are others out there that have had similar circumstances and maybe you would like to share? We would love to hear from you. I can’t wait until Sunday to see what God will do this week. It’s all about Him!
